Guitar No. 16

Date Completed:
Friday, August 22, 2014

This is another guitar for one of my favorite customers, John Gregerson in Minnesota. He sent me the top and the Brazilian Rosewood back and sides a bit more than a year ago with a request to create another fan braced guitar for him (previous guitar was no. 8) and the desire to warm up the trebles a bit more. It was a fun project and I appreciate Mr. Gregerson’s patience with me in waiting for my completing and delivering the guitar a bit later than I said I would.

Because I had both at the same time, I was fortunately able to compare this guitar with my recently completed lattice model, guitar no. 19, and it proved to hold its own with regards to projection and response. I employed a 5 fan, symmetrical bracing pattern on this guitar and used three lateral bars to add the cross grain stiffness. That idea was slightly influenced by the guitars of Jose Merin and Glenn Canin.
