  • "This amazing guitar was the vehicle for my Aunt Sheila’s progression as a musician. After a lifetime of service and sacrifice, she treated herself to this beautiful instrument in order to fully embrace the time she had to practice and the wisdom of her teacher. Sheila was an early pioneer as a woman in the U.S. foreign service, living and working for decades in Peru, Uruguay and Colombia among other countries. Although she had played guitar for many years, as seen below at an embassy party sometime in the 1980’s, she never considered herself a serious musician. In 2022, she learned that she most likely only had two years to live, and when many people would have thrown in the towel, Sheila decided she wanted to get serious about playing guitar - and to learn Italian! This craftsmanship of the instrument rose to the level of Sheila’s commitment, and she had many joyful hours playing with friends and on her own. My family and I are so grateful she was able to spend a few years this way! Sheila was also a deeply caring person, and so it is fitting that we are dedicating the full proceeds from the sale of the guitar to help our neighbor Juli, who came to the United States to find better care for her seven-year-old daughter Zoe who has cerebral palsy, and her twin sister María José. I hope you will love this instrument, and add another great chapter to its story. "
