Guitar No. 97
Here is a dark and stormy cedar topped traditional guitar that I have had in the works for a long time. These chocolate cedar tops are very rare and I fell in love with this particular one and wanted to create something special from it. The design is the same as what I refer to as "Praetoria" - a Madrid school top bracing very similar to what was used on the Ramirez 1A and what I have seen in many of Robert Rucks guitars.
The design just works. The asymmetrical diagonal treble bar that starts at the upper bout, crosses the lower tonebar, then continues into the upper half of the lower bout - the more I understand about the various structural challenges that must be controlled to produce a great guitar the more I love this particular design. It always makes a wonderful guitar and this "no. 97" is not an exception.
