Kenny Hill

My first resonsive guitar was one of Kenny Hills early double top prototypes. My initial interest in building classical guitars began with that instrument and was suppose to end with me also building double tops. As luck would have it, my first two solid top guitars resulted in a tone and volume that was for me, just as satisfying as the double top, so I never pursued this building style.

One day before I jumped back into making guitars ( after a two year stint in the Peace Corps and directing a nonprofit for about three years ) I gave Kenny Hill a call and asked him for tips on finding the best wood. His advice..."Everyone starts out thinking that they are going to build the best guitars in the world. Don't worry about that right now. Just start building and eventually the wood you want will show up."

So I got going and eventually the wood showed up.
